Boulder Life tells the organic stories that power the heart beat of Boulder, Colorado to enrich community awareness and connection.

There is something special about the city of Boulder, Colorado. Chances are, if you’re reading this right now you know exactly what I’m talking about. Our goal here at Boulder Life is to highlight the amazing, captivating, quirky, fascinating, eclectic, and yes sometimes strange stories of the people, places, and products of Boulder. We’re always looking for fresh voices and new topics to explore. Since we receive so many questions about our submission process – we’ve designed this handy little guide for you. Of course, like with any good publication, the best way to determine what we’re looking for is to read our previously published content.How We Create Value:

We provide the most comprehensive local events calendar in Boulder.

We are Boulder’s gateway for newcomers offering detailed guides on topics from climbing & hiking to farm-to-table cuisine.

We are seasoned storytellers who aim to shine a light on the rich history and living texture of the happiest, healthiest & worst dressed city in America.

Columnists

Our columnists are special. Without them, Boulder Life wouldn’t be what it is today. Our columnists work hard each week to bring their readers interesting content on a variety of subjects. We’re honored to have this talented bunch on our team. To join their ranks you must commit to:

  • Weekly Article Submissions.
  • Hard Deadlines.
  • Lots of Open Communication with our editorial staff.
  • Attend at least one weekly write-in each month.
  • Being in the spotlight! Our columnists are often featured on our home page and in promotional materials and videos for the site.
  • Typical featured columns are 800-1500 words in length and must be accompanied by at least 2 original photos (either taken by the author or by one of our Boulder Life Staff Photographers – you’re welcome to submit photos by others with permission and proper attribution).

Writers

If you’re not quite ready for the commitment of a columnist – but you’ve still got lots to say – we recommend becoming a Boulder Life Writer. Our writers like being regularly featured without the commitments of a weekly column. Writers commit to:

  • At least 2 article submission each month.
  • Flexible Deadlines.
  • Lots of open communication with our editorial staff.
  • Attend weekly write-ins as available.
  • Typical articles from Boulder Life writers are 300-1500 words in length and must be accompanied by at least 2 original photos (either taken by the author or by one of our Boulder Life Staff Photographers – you’re welcome to submit photos by others with permission and proper attribution).

Contributors

Okay…so maybe you’re gun shy when it comes to commitment. No worries. Boulder Life contributors are welcome to submit pieces on their own schedule. We can’t promise that we’ll always publish your work…but we can promise that we’ll read every word. If your submission does not meet our publishing standards we’ll let you know why and you’re always welcome to re-submit. Contributors:

  • Submit articles on their own schedule.
  • No deadlines.
  • Lots of open communication with our editorial staff – including helpful tips on how to improve rejected submissions.
  • Are welcome to attend weekly write-ins as available.
  • Typical articles from Boulder Life Contributors are 300-1500 words in length and must be accompanied by at least 2 original photos (either taken by the author or by one of our Boulder Life Staff Photographers – you’re welcome to submit photos by others with permission and proper attribution).
